In September 2003, we lost one of our club stalwarts, Gerry Cloak. Gerry was part of our Senior squad since 1994/95 season.

Gerry is pictured in 1987 in the Road League's Cup final in a team that features a large number of current player's. When the team broke up in 1989 Gerry was loaned to Crumlin Utd before returning in the Mid 90's where he remained ever since. He returned to the club with a two goal brace against Iveagh Celtic in his re-debut !

Gerry always wore No. 8 and Central Midfield was the position he made his own but heading was never an option ! Paul Martyn was the Saturday Manager at the time and he nicknamed Gerry "The Squire" from the film The Quiet Man. The nickname stuck as it summed up the quiet speaking and elegant bloke that Gerry was.

The Squire was part of the Saturday squads that achieved promotion twice (in 1996 & 2000) and the Sunday squad winning Division 1 in 1998. Injuries played a large part in Gerry missing months of matches over the period, none worse than when his mate Stephen Byrne broke him up in a Saturday game against Kinsealy. I don't think Soapy was ever forgiven for that one !!

We unveiled the Bosco Flag on our trip to Holland in May 2003 and it's only fitting that Gerry appears in the first photo on the train somewhere in central Europe.

As a tribute to Gerry we have mounted a plaque in his honour in the home dressing room with the inscription "Let the Squire inspire" and I'm sure he will. We will also be naming our Clubman of the Year trophy after Gerry from this season on.

Gerry will always be a part of The Bosco. He is sadly missed and will never be forgotten by his Manager's, team mates and many friends within the club.
